September 28th 2023 Meeting Minutes

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2023, Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, Beggs, all present. Also present: Holly Cavin, Judy Henry, and Justin Savage.

Watson motioned to approve the minutes from September 21, 2023, and approve the agenda for the meeting. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.

Fitgerald discussed a Crossroads meeting. He said they went over financial reports and that the opioid money programs in the schools seem to be working well. Fitzgerald also mentioned he attended the Matura meeting on Tuesday, they also went over financials and that they received a new Head Start Coordinator. Watson discussed the Southern Hills Mental Health meeting and said there was nothing new to report.

Savage presented updates on a new excavator. Beggs made a motion to approve the purchase of a Ziegler CAT Excavator for $340,000.00. Watson seconded. MC 3-0

The Board discussed snow removal for the upcoming season and would like to publish that they are accepting bids.

Watson made a motion to approve donating a Taylor County Ambulance to the City of New Market. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0

Beggs made a motion to approve the Secure Benefits invoice. Watson seconded. MC 3-0

The Board discussed and approved Insurance Buy Out forms for Taylor County employees.

Watson made a motion to approve the abatement of taxes on parcels 608014005000 and 60801400600 for the City of Blockton in the amount of $12.00.

The Board discussed the new Public Health building and talked about the updates that need done.

Clinton Spurrier presented ideas for the Opioid Funds. The Board discussed setting up a committee to generate ideas on how to utilize the Opioid Funds.

The Board changed the Board of Supervisor meeting next week to Friday, October 6, 2023.

The Board approved claims to be paid.

The Board discussed future topics of discussion for future meetings. Beggs made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Watson seconded. MC 3-0
