August 17th 2023 Meeting Minutes

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 17, 2023. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, Beggs, all present. Also present: Holly Cavin, and Justin Savage.
Watson motioned to approve the minutes from August 10,2023, as well as approve the agenda for the meeting. Beggs seconded. MC 3􀀁0.
Diane Lang spoke during public comments to discuss concerns about the wind farms and wanted to know if any changes were being made.
There were no committee reports.
Savage presented a funding agreement and a compensation estimate for project STP-S­
C087( 60)-5E-87. Watson made a motion to approve. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.
Savage also presented reappointment of Belinda Ogle as Taylor County Title VI/ADA Coordinator. Watson made a motion to approve. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0
Nick Fehring discussed a Conservation Board member (Dray Walter) resignation. Beggs made a motion to approve. Watson seconded. MC 3-0
Fehring proposed appointing Dean Rowe to the Conservation Board. Beggs made a motion to approve. Watson seconded. MC 3-0
Fehring also presented Conservation grant funding and purchases. The Board decided to table the discussion.
The Board met with County Attorney Clinton Spurrier on appointing a new Auditor.
Josh Weed presented hiring Chance Strough as a new deputy. Watson made a motion to approve. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0
The Board reviewed and approved a claims to be paid.
The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Watson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.
