MEETING MINUTES
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, Beggs, all present. Also present: Holly Cavin, and Justin Savage.
Beggs motioned to approve the minutes from August 22,2023, as well as approve the agenda for the meeting. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
Watson discussed the Southern Iowa Trolley meeting. Beggs discussed the Courthouse Safety meeting.
Stanley Mattes spoke during public comments inquiring about the pay scale for the Assessor’s Office.
Savage presented an electric utility permit. Beggs made a motion to approve. Watson seconded. MC 3-0
Savage discussed the purchase of a CAT 140 motor grader for 386,024.86. This purchase will happen in FY2025. Beggs made a motion to approve. Watson seconded. MC 3-0
Savage discussed selling a piece of land owned by Taylor County. Nick Fehring said that he would like to use this land for the Conservation Department.
Shellia Culp presented several courthouse maintenances that needed to be addressed. The Board discussed the motion detectors in the Courthouse.
Fehring and Lecy discussed having internships for the Sanitation/Conservation.
Nick Fehring presented LOST funds for Conservation.
The Board reviewed and approved Secured Benefits and claims to be paid.
The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Watson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.
