December 29th 2022 Meeting Minutes

PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29th, 2022.

Supervisor Wilmarth called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Wilmarth, Horton Fitzgerald, all present. Also present: Corey Leftwich, Kim Watson, Jack Beggs, Josh Good and Justin Savage.

Horton made a motion to approve the minutes from the December 22nd meeting and December 27th special meeting as well as the agenda for the December 29th meeting. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. MC 3-0.

There were no public comments or committee reports.

Savage presented the updated bridge posted weight limits for 2023 for Board approval. The updates to the bridges and limits from last year were discussed. Horton motioned to approve the list as it was presented. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.

Savage discussed the Weed Commissioner position with the Board, and that Raymond Olney wishes not to continue the position. The Board wishes him the best, and stated he did a great job in the role and that they appreciate his service.

Cole Walters, Jackie Ewart, Tecia Hardee, Joel Hardee, Tanner Peterman, Sandy Boswell, Sarah Guilliatt, Julie Robinson, Jerry Calvin, Lincoln Calvin, and Nicki Lock joined the meeting.

Walters and the Taylor County Partners made a presentation to the Board regarding their goal of creating a “Connect Center” in Taylor County. The benefits of a “recreation” center located in Bedford were presented, and how it would benefit the County. The Board was able to ask questions of Taylor County Partners to determine if a partnership might be possible in the future. The Board decided to table the discussion until a later time.

Cole Walters, Jackie Ewart, Tecia Hardee, Joel Hardee, and Tanner Peterman left the meeting.

The Board decided to table the review of the Courthouse basement. Jodi Still joined the meeting.

The Board discussed the bid for 203 Main Street, and whether they want to proceed with the renovation project. Fitzgerald motioned to decline the bid for 203 Main Street. Horton seconded. MC 3-0.

Ron Fitzgerald and the incoming Supervisors Kim Watson and Jack Beggs took the oath of office.
The Board reviewed the basement of the Courthouse, for the possibility of utilizing a portion of it as an alternate and more accessible courtroom.

The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Horton motioned to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.
