June 30th 2022 Meeting Minutes

June 30, 2022
Supervisor Wilmarth called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m.
Roll call Supervisors: Horton, Fitzgerald, and Wilmarth and Auditor Bethany Murphy. Also, present
Kim Watson and Justin Savage
Horton made a motion seconded by Fitzgerald to approve the agenda for today’s meeting and the
minutes to the last meeting. Motion carried 3-0
There were no public comments.
The Board gave a report on the 4-county joint meeting they attended. Wilmarth reported on the
Southern Iowa Trolly meeting she attended. Fitzgerald gave a report on the Crossroads meeting he
attended.
Kim Watson left the meeting.
Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to go into closed session to discuss hiring of
Maintenance Operator 1. Motion carried 3-0.
Horton made a motion seconded by Fitzgerald to come out of closed session. Motion carried 3-0.
Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to hire the candidate presented for Maintenance
Operator

Motion carried 3-0.
Horton made a motion seconded by Fitzgerald to return to closed session to discuss acquisition of
right of way. Motion carried 3-0.
Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to come out of closed session. Motion carried 3-0.
Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to approve the estimates to offer to purchase the Right
of Way for the Conway bridge project. Motion carried 3-0.
Savage updated the Board that the Weed Commissioner is at the point of sending certified letters to
the landowners that have not complied with the requests to take care of the noxious weeds.
The Board approved the insurance buyouts for Dani Gray, Jordan Jenkins, Sue Cox, Michael Bowman,
Jeff Price, Dustin Rowan, and James Rowe.
Colleen Larimor joined the meeting.
The Board discussed additional compensation for the Auditor now serving as the Assessor. Fitzgerald
made a motion seconded by Horton to approve a stipend in the amount of $2500.00 for the months of
June and July for serving as the Assessor and to be revisited in August on a month-to-month basis.
Motion carried 3-0.
Steve Cabbage, Rick Cabbage, and Katie Meyers visited with the Board on revalidation of the New
Market City Park. They have raised $125,000 and the total cost of the playground is $204,433.24.
They put in a request for $25,000.00 towards their project.
Auditor Murphy discussed a property that was not split apart properly when sold in 2016 and the
taxes have been paid by the incorrect landowner. After visiting with the County Attorney asked if
the Board would issue the credit to the landowner who had been paying the incorrect taxes for the September
payment in the amount of $800.00. The amount of taxes that have been incorrectly paid. Horton made
a motion seconded Fitzgerald to credit parcel 05202004040000 $800.00 towards the September payment
of taxes.

Motion carried 3-0.
The Board tabled the bid for brick repair waiting for clarification.
Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 3-0. Pam
