August 11th 2022 Meeting Minutes

August 11, 2022

Supervisor Wilmarth called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

The Board stood and said the pledge of allegiance.

Roll call Supervisors: Horton, Fitzgerald, and Wilmarth and Auditor Bethany Murphy. Also, present Kim Watson and Justin Savage.

Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to approve the agenda for today’s meeting and the minutes to the last meeting.  Motion carried 3-0

There were no public comments.

Horton reported on the DECAT meeting he attended.

Savage just gave an update on the Secondary Roads department they will end summer hours August 17. 

Savage and Watson left meeting. 

Josh Good joined meeting.

Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to go into closed session under Iowa Code 22.7(50) to discuss cyber security.  Motion carried 3-0.

Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to come out of closed session.  Motion carried 3-0.

Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to renew the Veritas Backup System with Solutions for $245.36.  Motion carried 3-0.

Crystal Drake joined the meeting to discuss the van that hit a deer in her department.  The van is a 2007 Chrysler Town and Country with 170,000 miles on it.  Drake has an estimate to repair at $4000.00.  The have not yet turned in a claim to insurance.  The Board tabled the decision to turn in a claim until next week and will look for a replacement vehicle. 

Jackie Minor joined the meeting.

Drake received the tax bill for 203 Main Street in the amount of $981.58 she asked the Board to abate the taxes for the year.  After discussion on abating or just paying the taxes, Horton made a motion seconded by Fitzgerald to abate the taxes for 203 Main Street.  Motion carried 3-0.

Jackie Minor discussed Builders Risk Insurance with the Board for the upcoming renovation at 203 Main Street.

Minor left the meeting.

Drake discussed with the Board the layout of the renovation, adding insulation to the whole building, and adding some windows to the lower level in the back of the building.  Drake spoke about a new CBDG Grant that was coming available in September.  She will check into the specifics of the grant and let the Board know.

Fitzgerald made a motion seconded by Horton to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried 3-0.
