January 18th 2024 Meeting Minutes

PROCEEDINGS FOR THE

TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,

January 18, 2024, Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs all present.  Also present:  Judy Henry, Justin Savage, Rob Welch, Jaclyn   and Matt Strueby.

Beggs made a motion to approve the minutes from January 4, 2024, meeting and Agenda for today. Watson seconded.  MC 3-0.

Public comments:

Matt Strueby was requesting an update on the Rural Urban Revitalization process.  County Attorney Clint Spurrier explained he was still in the process of investigating the process with other counties. 

Crystal Drake & Dana Davis joined the meeting.

Committee Report:

No Report. 

Secondary Roads:

Savage stated the Road employees have been very busy with Snow Removal.  The Board was appreciative of the employees’ hard work.

New Business:

Dana Davis, Treasurer, presented the Board with the FY 24 Taylor County Semiannual Report.  Watson made a motion to approve the Semiannual Report.  Beggs seconded the motion.  

MC 3-0.

Ryan Berven, Assured Partners, reviewed the renewal report for FY2025 ISAC Group Benefits Program. 

Danna Buls, MATURA Action Corporation, presented their FY22/23 Annual Report. The MATURA fiscal year runs October 1-September 30.  MATURA requested $17,000 for Contributions and $8000 for General Assistance.

Old Business:

Shellia Culp reported Native Hardwood is complete with the floor at Handicap Entrance.  Just need to get floor covering.  Also, she would like something done about the cars parked on the North side of the Courthouse.  Its very hard to see traffic coming from the east if cars are parked close to the intersection of Pearl and Court St.  The Board will check to see if parking can be changed. 

Chrystal Drake, Public Health, presented the Health of Community Report to the Board.  It is a county wide survey on the physical health of the community.  Mental Health was the most popular topic.

Drake also reported the Governor is wanting to reduce the Behavioral Health Districts from the current 14 down to 7.

The Board reviewed and approved claims to be paid.

The Board discussed topics of discussion for future meetings.

Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.

The Board of Supervisors approve these minutes to be published in the Taylor County Board of Supervisors Minute Book:
