Taylor County is located in the southern most tier of Iowa and is third in order eastward from the Missouri River.  It is bounded on the north by Adams County, on the east by Ringgold County, on the south by the northern boundary of the State of Missouri, and on the west by Page County.  

Taylor County has a total area of 534.83 square miles (according to the 2000 census.)  In the 2010 census, the population of the county was 6,317 with a population density of 11.83/sq. mi.  The primary occupation is agriculture.

Taylor County is made up of seventeen townships and eight incorporated cities.  The county seat is Bedford.  Taylor County is governed by a Board of Supervisors, made up of three supervisors that are publicly elected to serve on the board.
