PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present. Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Jim Rowe, Rob Welch and Jared Hershberger.
Watson made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from September 5, 2024, Board Meeting. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Public Comments:
Harshbarger reported on the Landowner Appreciation Supper and Grant Applications.

Secondary Road Report:
Rowe reported work continues on Bridge Projects.
NEW BUSINESS:
Watson made a motion to go into recess and move to the lower-level Board Room. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Watson made a motion to resume the open meeting. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Beggs made a motion to go into Closed Session per Iowa Code 21.5(i) to meet with Recorder, Rick Sheley to update on business in his office. Watson seconded the motion. AYES: Fitzgerlad, Beggs and Watson; NAYS-0. MC 3-0. Closed Session was held.
Beggs made a motion to resume the open meeting in the main Board Room. Watson seconded the motion. AYES-Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs. NAYS-0. MC. 3-0.
Department Head’s meet with the Board to discuss the future of the Compensation Board. A consensus among Elected Officials was to keep the Compensation Board. Auditor Henry will draw up a resolution for the next meeting for a vote.
Sheriff Weed presented a quote of $16,583.59 from Stivers Midwest Pro Upfitters for equipment install on the new patrol car. Beggs made a motion to approve the quote. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.

Beggs made a motion to go into closed session per Iowa Code 21.5(i) to discuss the County Attorney Vacancy. Watson seconded the motion. AYES: Fitzerald, Watson and Beggs; NAYS-0. MC 3-0. Closed Session was held. Beggs made a motion to resume the open meeting in the main Board Room. Watson seconded the motion. AYES: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs; NAYES-0. MC 3-0.
OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp reviewed Courthouse updates. Carpet is ready to be picked up for the break room on the lower level. County still needs to fix the tile in the main hallway.
No Auditor update.
The Board worked on items for the next meeting.
Claims were reviewed and approved.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
