October 1, 2024 Meeting Minutes

PROCEEDINGS FOR THE

TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 9:16 a.m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present.   Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry and Jim Rowe.

Beggs made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from September 26, 2024, Board Meetings.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0. 

Public Comments:

None

Committee Report:

None.

Secondary Road Report:

Rowe reported the shed in New Market is finished.  His department continues to look for an air compressor.

NEW BUSINESS:

The Board tabled discussion on the EMPG Funding.

Beggs made a motion to accept a letter of resignation from Lisa Swanson, our Judicial Mental Health Advocate.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.

The Board signed Taylor County Employee Insurance buyouts.

Sheriff Weed joined the meeting to discuss a $18,566.95 quote from Stivers Midwest Upfitters for equipment on the new patrol vehicle. Watson made a motion to approve the quote from Stivers Midwest Upfitters.  Beggs seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.

OLD BUSINESS:

Shellia Culp reviewed Courthouse updates; she will start pulling weeds around the courtyard in preparation for fall.  

The Board held discussions on filling the County Attorney position.  Fitzgerald and Henry will be attending a meeting in Mt Ayr to join representatives from the Ringgold Supervisor’s Board on what options are available for both counties. 

No Auditor update.

The Board worked on items for the next meeting.

Claims were reviewed and approved.

Beggs made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
