PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present. Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Jim Rowe, Rob Welch and Crystal Drake.
Watson made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from October 10, 2024, Board Meeting. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Public Comments:
Rob Welch stated Black Maple Wind was providing free lunches in several locations throughout the county for citizens working on harvest.

Secondary Road Report:
Rowe reported they have a tractor down but was able to find one to rent so they can continue to work while the weather is good.
NEW BUSINESS:
Drake gave an update on the services being provided by Public Health. Drake approached the Board on how to handle the change in the cell phone carriers.
Beggs made a motion to go into closed session per Iowa Code 21.5(i) for discussion on the County Attorney replacement. Watson seconded the motion. AYES-Beggs, Watson and Fitzgerald, NAYS-0. MC 3-0. The Board went into closed session. Watson made a motion to come out of closed session. Beggs seconded the motion. AYES-Beggs, Watson and Fitzgerld, NAYS-0. MC 3-0. The Board returned to regular session. Watson made a motion to hire Andy Knuth per a 90-day Employment Agreement effective October 16th, 2024, pursuant to Iowa Code. Beggs seconded the motion. AYES-Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs, NAYS-0. MC 3-0. The position will continue to be advertised every 90 days for rehire until December 2026, which is the end of the 28E Agreement between Taylor and Ringgold County’s.
Watson made a motion to go into closed session per Iowa Code 21.5(i) to meet with employee, Julie Robinson. Beggs seconded the motion. AYES-Fitzgerald, Beggs & Watson, NAYS-0. MC 3-0. The Board went into closed session. Beggs made a motion to come out of closed session. Watson seconded the motion. AYES-Fitzgerald, Beggs and Watson, NAYS-0. MC 3-0. The Board returned to regular session.
OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp reported that the floor in the lower level is complete.
Treasurer, Dana Davis informed the Board she had possibly found someone to fill the open position in her office.
The Board worked on items for the next meeting.
Claims were reviewed and approved.
Beggs made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
