PROCEEDINGS FOR THE

TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 9:08 a m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present.   Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Jim Rowe and Rob Welch.

Beggs made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from the November 21, 2024, Board Meeting.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0. 

Committee Report:

Fitzgerld attended the Crossroads meeting.  Watson attended the Southern Iowa Trolly meeting.

Public Comments:

None

Secondary Road Report:

Rowe updated Board on active projects. 

NEW BUSINESS:

Kyle Ahlenstorf, Infinity Health in Decatur County, and Sarah Guilliett joined the meeting to discuss an opportunity to provide added services to the Public Health Office.  Ahlenstorf stated they would like to extend health, mental and dental services into Taylor County.  Most of the services are Federally and State funded.  The project would take several phases but would be a great opportunity for individuals who have limited or no access to health care. The Board felt they would like to move forward with the project.  Discussion will resume after the first of the year.

Watson made a motion to approve Resolution 25-6, Resolution declaring Emergency Medical Services to be an Essential County Service Beggs seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.  The next step will be to hold a public hearing.

Henry presented a credit card application for the County Attorney’s Office. Beggs made a motion to allow the County Attorney to have a Visa Card for travel and office expenses.  Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. 

Belinda Ogle joined the meeting to discuss the need for an Engineer. 

Henry stated there are several Departments that would like to amend their Budget. Beggs made a motion to hold a Budget Amendment hearing on December 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.

Henry presented the 2025 Proposed Holiday List.  The list is the same as the current year, no added days.  Beggs made a motion to approve the 2025 Holiday List.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.

Sheriff Weed discussed upgrading the bumper on the new patrol car.  Beggs made a motion to make the upgrade.  Watson seconded. MC 3-0

OLD BUSINESS:

Jack Reed dropped in to notify the Board he will meet with them at a future date to discuss Union Negotiations.

Board approved claims to be paid and discuss items for the next meeting.

Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
