PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, Beggs, all present. Also present: Lindsay Sonksen and Jack Reed.
Beggs motioned to approve the minutes from November 12, 2024, as well as approve the agenda for the meeting. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
No public comment.
Kim Watson mentioned going to the RC&B meeting in Creston on November 14, 2024.
At 8:34 a.m., Kim Watson motioned to go into closed session for Union Negotiation in accordance with Iowa Code Section 20.17(3). Beggs seconded. MC 3-0. Watson – Aye, Beggs – Aye, Fitzgerald – Aye. Josh Weed entered the closed session at 8:42 a.m. At 9:00 a.m., the Board came out of closed session. Jack Beggs motioned to reconvene the meeting. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
Chris Lock and Jason Minor entered the meeting for Secondary Roads. Discussed possible purchase of a twin screw air compressor. Lock will return with quotes for board to go over at the December 5, 2024 meeting. Lock and Minor left the meeting.
Belinda Ogle entered the meeting. Presented a utility permit by Farmer’s Mutual out by Jack Clayton’s residence. Watson motioned to approve the utility permit. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0. Ogle also presented to the board the Iowa’s Five-Year Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSO) 2024-2028. Beggs motioned to approve Iowa’s Five-Year Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSO) 2024-2028. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
At 10:04 a.m., Beggs motioned to go into recess for the Public Meeting regarding Amending Flood Plan Management Ordinance #34. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. At 10:12 a.m., Beggs motioned to reconvene. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. Vote to come out of recess, Aye 3-0.
Shellia Culp entered the meeting. Discussed courthouse updates. Culp left the meeting.
The Board reviewed and approved claims to be paid.
The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Watson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Beggs seconded. MC 3-0.
