PROCEEDINGS FOR THE

TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 8:34 a m.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present.   Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Jim Rowe, Rob Welch, Belinda Ogle, Julie Robinson, Crystal Drake, Sheriff Josh Weed, Treasurer Dana Davis, Shellia Culp, Sue Cox, Josh Good and Assessor Holly Cavin.

Watson made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from the November 26, 2024, Board Meeting.  Beggs seconded the motion.  MC 3-0. 

COMMITTEE REPORT:

Fitzgerld attended the MATURA meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

None

DEPARTMENT HEAD MEETING:

Department Heads discussed making changes to the Handbook Policy and discussed appointments to the Compensation Board.

SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:

Rowe presented a Utility Permit for the City of New Market.  City of New Market will be replacing a water main along 8th St. outside city limits.  Beggs made a motion to approve the utility permit.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.  Rowe updated the Board on active projects.  Rowe discussed property that was damaged by one of the motor graters.  Rowe and Ogle suggested paying the damage out of the current budget instead of filing an insurance claim.  The damage wasn’t to much more than the insurance deductible. Watson made a motion to pay for the damage and not file a claim.  Beggs seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.  Chris Lock joined the Board to discuss skid loader quotes. 

NEW BUSINESS:

Taylor County SWCD Board Members and employees joined the Board to give their Annual Update and request for FY26 funding.  Those in attendance include Scott Eischeid, Rick Sprague, Bonnie Godden and Erin Ogle.

Auditor Henry presented DOLGENCORP, LLC liquor license application.  Beggs made a motion to approve the license request.  Watson seconded the motion.  MC 3-0.  

OLD BUSINESS:

Shellia Culp provided updates on purchasing new fire extinguishers for the Courthouse.

Board approved claims to be paid and discuss items for the next meeting.

Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.  

The Board of Supervisors approve these minutes to be published in the Taylor County Board of Supervisors Minute Book:
