PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:07 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Jim Rowe and Colleen Larimer.
Watson made a motion to approve the agenda for today and minutes from the April 24, 2025, meeting. Fitzgerald seconded the Motion. MC 3-0.
COMMITTEE REPORT:
Fitzgerald attended the Crossroads meeting. Watson attended the Southern Iowa Trolly meeting.
Kristie Ritchie joined the meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
None.
SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
Rowe presented 4 Utility Permits for United Electric to lay fiber optics. All permits pertained to Sellenriek Construction at areas East of Jerico Ave 265th St., boring for fiber optic cable on corner of Forest Ave and 315th St. including duct. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve all 4 Utility Permits. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Sheriff Deputy O’Connor joined the meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Deputy O’Connor spoke to the Board about purchasing two drones for the Sheriff’s Department. He stated the public support has been great and they have collected enough donations to purchase the Drones. The drones would be available for use by the surrounding fire departments. O’Connor stated they had found a vendor in Lenox that could order the drone. Watson made a motion to approve Resolution 2025-16 for establishment of a county fund to track expenses and revenues made strictly for the drone. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Auditor Henry presented Resolution 2025-17 to approve salary adjustments for FY26. Watson made a motion to approve Resolution 2025-17 with a 5% raise. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.
Kristie Ritchie made a request to purchase the Original N1/2 of Lot 24 in Corporate Lenox. The lot had been sold at a prior tax sale, but the buyer never kept the taxes paid up on the property. Treasurer Davis said the lot could be sold by Certificate of Purchase and all back taxes and fees will need to be paid by Ritchie Real Estate, L.L.C. Watson made a motion to approve the sale of the property to Ritchie Real Estate, LLC. by Certificate of Purchase including buyer paying the taxes and fees. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Ritchie also discussed the Lenox pool project, she hoped the Board could find funds in the future to help support the remodel project.

OLD BUSINESS:
Culp reported on continued projects and upkeep of the Courthouse.
The board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
