PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Supervisor Chairman Beggs called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Kim Watson, Ron Fitzgerald, and Jack Beggs present. Also present were Lindsay Sonksen, Jim Rowe, John DeMott, Jared Hershberger, and Rob Welch.
Watson motioned to approve the minutes from January 2, 2025, and January 9, 2025, as well as approve the agenda for the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.
Fitzgerald had attended an ATURA meeting.
No public comments.
Jim Rowe presented 11 new weight limit postings that need changed. Fitzgerald motioned to approve the weight limit changes. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. Rowe left the meeting.
Jared Herschberger presented the board with the Black Maple Wind Project Impact Statement. Also, mentioned the Black Maple Community Grant went to the Garland Hotel in the amount of $5,000.
Herschberger, Welch, DeMott left the meeting. Danna Buls and Lydia Brumfield entered the meeting.
Buls and Brumfield presented the 2023 Annual Report for Matura. Requested $25,000 for FY26 funding. Board will discuss at a later meeting.
Buls and Brumfield left the meeting. Dana Davis and Josh Weed entered the meeting.
Davis presented the Semi-Annual Report. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the Semi-Annual Report. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. Davis left the meeting.
Weed requested a wage staffing adjustment for dispatchers and jailers in the amount of 15% effective January 17, 2025. The raises would be funded within an existing budget. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the wage and staffing adjustments for dispatchers and jailers coming from within the existing budget in the amount of 15%. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
Josh Weed left the meeting. Shellia Culp entered the meeting.
Culp discussed current courthouse maintenance projects.
Culp left the meeting. Zoie Lecy and Dale Bucher entered the meeting.
Lecy and Bucher discussed projects for Conservation and Sanitarian. Lecy and Bucher left the meeting.
The Board reviewed and approved claims to be paid.
The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Watson motioned to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.
