PROCEEDINGS FOR THE

TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday,

February 13, 2025. Supervisor Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:06 a.m. The Pledge of

Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Kim Watson, Ron Fitzgerald, and Jack Beggs, all

present. Also present: Deputy Auditor Lindsay Sonksen, Rob Welch, and Jim Rowe.

Watson motioned to approve the minutes from Februaiy 6, 2025, and to approve the agenda with

an addition to possibly interview the Engineer applicant in closed session in compliance with

Iowa Code Section 21.5(i). Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.

No Public Comments.

No Committee Report.

Rowe updated the board with ongoing Secondaiy Roads projects. Rowe left the meeting.

Watson motioned to approve the liquor license for the Bedford Golf Club, Inc. Fitzgerald

seconded. MC 3-0.

Fitzgerald motioned to approve Resolution 2025-8, a resolution to participate in the planning and

development of programs of the Southern Iowa Council of Governments, in the amount of

$3,481.05. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.

Shellia Culp entered the meeting. Gave updates on current Courthouse maintenance projects.

Culp left the meeting.

Crystal Drake and Zoie Lecy entered the meeting. Drake and Lecy presented an Agreement for

Environmental Health Services for remainder ofFY25 and FY26. Watson motioned to approve

the agreement between Enviro Health and Conservation for FY25 and FY26. Fitzgerald

seconded. MC 3-0.

Lecy left the meeting. Dana Davis, Bub O’Connor, Cole Walters, Shellia Culp, Cindy Cox

entered the meeting.

After a short discussion, the Board tabled further insurance discussion until Tuesday, Februaiy

18, 2025. Oralee and Davis left the meeting.

Walters, Cox, and O’Connor requested $10,000 for FY26 funding for the New Market-LenoxBedford

Economic Development. Fitzgerald motioned to approve $10,000 to New MarketLenox-

Bedford Economic Development for FY26 funding. Watson seconded. MC 3-0. Cox,

O’Connor and Walters left the meeting.

February 13, 2025 Taylor County Board of Supervisors

Belinda Ogle, Jim Rowe, Michael Bowman and Andrew Pope entered the meeting.

Supervisors conducted an interview with Andrew Pope for the Taylor County Engineer position.

Watson motioned to recess until 1 :00p.m. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0.

Watson motioned to come out of recess at 1 :05p.m. Fitzgerald seconded. MC 3-0. Janel Irvin

entered the meeting.

The Board listened to budgets for FY26 from the following individuals and department:

Secondaiy Roads – Belinda Ogle and Jim Rowe

Attorney – Andrew Knuth and Julie Robinson

Auditor/Recorder- Judy Herny

IT Josh Good

Sheriff Josh Weed

Ambulance Jan Beach-Sickels

General Services Shellia Culp

Treasurer-Dana Davis

The Board reviewed and approved claims to be paid.

The Board reviewed topics for discussion in future meetings. Fitzgerald motioned to adjourn the

meeting. Watson seconded. MC 3-0.
