PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs all present. Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Rob Welch, Jared Harshburger, Nickie Lock, Belinda Ogle, Brandon Sleep and Jim Rowe.
Beggs made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from July 30, 2024, Board meeting. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Public Comments:
Jared stated he would still like to meet with the Board sometime to discuss the details of the Windmill project.

Secondary Road Report:
There were no utility permit applications. Rowe discussed options for filling the Engineer position. Ogle had spoke with Page County Engineer JD King, King temporarily agreed to sign off on projects already in progress. He requested $4000 a month and increase $1000 monthly until an Engineer is found. Watson made a motion to approve Resolution 25-2 Authorization for Page County Engineer to accept all Farm-to-Market and Federal or State Construction Project on behalf of Taylor County Board of Supervisors. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0. The Board met with Brandon Sleep to see if he had interest on helping Secondary Roads until a Engineer is found.
Rowe discussed the use of grant money that was awarded to the Secondary Roads from the Southwest Iowa E-911 service. The grant states the funds are to be used for 911 signage.
NEW BUSINESS:
Auditor Henry presented the FY 24-25 software contract from Solutions. Beggs made a motion to approve the contract. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Sheriff Weed stated the server at the Sheriffs Office went down, Josh Good had one on hand to replace it. Weed was requesting $2500 for the software provider to transfer all data to the new drive. Watson made a motion to approve the fee amount of $2500 for data transfer to the new server. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Auditor Henry presented the reading of Taylor County Ordinance #39: Readopting the existing county codes and amending and/or repealing certain portions therein. Beggs made a motion to wave the second and third readings of Ordinance #39. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Watson made a motion to adopt Taylor County Ordinance #39. Beggs seconded the motion. Aye’s Fitzgerald, Beggs and Watson. MC 3-0
OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp gave Courthouse updates. The Camblin repairman gave an update on issues with the Auditor’s Air Conditioning. Culp wondered where the Board stood on the East railing in the Courtyard. A portion of the railing was removed when the trees were trimmed. Watson stated he would take care of fixing it.
No Auditor updates.
The Board worked on items for the next meeting.
Claims were reviewed and approved.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Beggs seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
