PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. Supervisor Fitzgerald called the meeting to order at 9:11 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson and Beggs present. Also, present Auditor, Judy Henry, Rob Welch, Jim Rowe, Shellia Culp, Josh Good and Jeff Longfellow.
Beggs made a motion to approve the agenda for today and the minutes from August 15, 2024, Board Meeting. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
Public Comments:
Jeff Longfellow approached the Board about asphalting a 400’ stretch of road near one of his farms that is used by area farmers. Longfellow found a company that would resurface the road for a discount since the company was working in the area already. Longfellow was willing to pay for half the cost if the Board agreed to pay for the remaining half. The Board made no decision on the request.
Committee Report:
Watson attended the Heart of Iowa meeting by Zoom.
Security Report:
Good and Culp reported they have meet with 2 different companies to obtain quotes for the door security system in the Courthouse. Verkada prepared a quote, the second Vendor had not turned in a quote. Watson made a motion to contract Verkada for 10 years for door security. Beggs seconded the motion, MC 3-0.
Secondary Road Report:
Rowe updated the Board on road projects in the County. He also expressed his view on the Engineer Vacancy, the Board listened to his concerns. Watson made a motion to adopt Resolution 24-3 allowing Jim Rowe empowerment to sign Secondary Roads Department daily business until an Engineer is found.

OLD BUSINESS:
Shellia Culp reviewed Courthouse updates.
Auditor Henry stated State Auditors were currently here working on the FY23-24 Audit. Her office has been busy figuring taxes.
The Board worked on items for the next meeting.
Claims were reviewed and approved. One claim was pulled for vendor Joel Lawrence. The Board wanted further information on the claim before they made a decision.
Watson made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Fitzgerald seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
