PROCEEDINGS FOR THE
TAYLOR COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Taylor County Board of Supervisors met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Supervisor Jack Beggs called the meeting to order at 9:15 a m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Supervisor roll call: Fitzgerald, Watson, and Beggs present. Also present, Auditor Judy Henry, Jim Rowe and Rob Welch.

Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the agenda for today and minutes from the prior meeting. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.

COMMITTEE REPORT:
Watson attended Southern Iowa Trolly meeting.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
None
SECONDARY ROAD REPORT:
Rowe provided a Utility permit for 1347 200th St. Fitzgerald made a motion to approve the Utility Permit. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0.
NEW BUSINESS:
Auditor Henry presented a Memorandum of Understanding between Taylor County and Adair County for sharing a Judicial Mental Health Advocate. Fitzgerald motioned to approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Adair County. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. The shared Advocate will serve Adair, Adams, Decatur, Taylor and Union Counties.
Discussion was held on final numbers on the FY26 Budget.
The Board held the Max Levy Hearing for FY26. Those in attendance were John Stuber, James Samford, Henry Lemke, Colleen Larimer, Stan Mattes, Drexel Wall and Josh Good. Public comments included the jump in assessments, where are the tax dollars going and are budget cuts being made. Assessor Holly Cavin explained the Assessments are controlled by the State of Iowa as they set the formulas and laws for figuring values. The 2025 Assessment notices were recently mailed to the citizens of Taylor County. The notices are 2025 Values that are payable for taxes in 2026/2027.
OLD BUSINESS:
Culp updated the Board on ongoing repairs in the Courthouse.
Josh Good, IT Specialist, informed the Board of concerns about the upcoming software contract renewal with Solutions/Harris Co.
The board approved claims to be paid and discussed items for the next meeting.
Fitzgerald made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Watson seconded the motion. MC 3-0. Meeting adjourned.
